Eilidh Briggs narrowly failed in her attempt to win the Scottish Ladies Amateur Championship last Saturday (21st may) at Machrihanish. On the day she was defeated by Louise
Kenney (aged 28) from Dunfermline who ran out 5&4 winner.

In attrocious weather conditions Louise parred the first five holes and that was enough to give her a 2 hole advantage. Eilidh birdied the sixth to half the deficit but an eagle at the par five
seventh hole restored Louise's two hole lead. The eighth and ninth holes were exchanged before Louise won the next two holes to increase her lead to four. Halves followed at the 12th and 13th holes but a bogey at the 14th was enough for Louise to win the hole and completed her victory.

During her run to the final, Eilidh narrowly defeated older sister Megan 2&1 in the semi final. What a shame they ended up in same half of the draw as what an achievement it would have
been for them to meet each other in the final.

We here at Kilmacolm are indeed fortunate to have 2 such talented golfers in our midst. So whilst it’s commiserations on this occasion for Eilidh we are sure that it’s only a matter
of time before she picks up a National title.

Well done, from all at the Club, to Eilidh and Megan for their achievements in the Championships
