Our third Gents Open competition was held on sunday 26th june when 139 brave golfers braved the wet and windy conditions in their attempt to win the "Claret Jug". CSS scores for Away players on the day was 70.
The winner, for the second year running was our local Club Champion Andy Farmer (see picture below) who shot a gross 68 in the first match out. Peter Harvey from Renfrew Golf Club was a close runner up with a score of 70, with Kilmacolm's Colin Christy in 3rd place with a 71.
In the Handicaps up to 9 event, the winner with a mighty impressive net 64 was Norman Bowie from Renfrew Golf Club, who narrowly defeated Kilmacolm's John Tanner who returned a 65. James Halpen, in the last match of the day, finished 3rd with a net 66.
For handicaps 10 and above, the winner was Ian Mckay from Dougalston Golf Club, who tied with Stewart Croll from Caldwell with a net 68, but Ian won on a better inward half. In third place with a 69 was Henry McDaid from Cochrance castle who pipped Campbell MacKenzie from Ranfurly Castle and Harry McCarroll from Kirkhill on a better inward half. Henry and Campbell where 4th and 5th respectively.
