Kilmacolm Golf Club recently had the pleasure of hosting our new friends from Golf NSW, who have now departed to continue their journey competing against elite golfers in prestigious events such as the Scottish Men’s Open Championship, the British Amateur and the St Andrews Links Trophy. After their time in Scotland, they will head to the USA and Canada for a six-week tour in June.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all members who took the time to meet and welcome our international guests. Their glowing testimonials highlight the exceptional service provided by our Pro Team, bar and catering staff and many of our members.
The highlight of their visit was the thrilling challenge match held on Saturday 24th May 2025 which delighted both participants and spectators. The matches were closely contested, with two of the games decided on the 17th hole.
As our friends embark on their next competitions, we wish them the best and hope they perform admirably, alongside our own Alexander Farmer, who is competing in the same fields. There is already keen interest expressed in returning to Kilmacolm Golf Club next year and reciprocal invitations have been extended to our elite golfers to visit New South Wales in the future.
Testimonials from Golf NSW
Khan Pullen, Manager of the High Performance Program, shared his appreciation: “
“As part of our preparation to compete in elite amateur tournaments across the UK, several squad members from the Golf NSW High Performance Program and I were graciously hosted by Kilmacolm Golf Club.
The committee’s unwavering support and assistance prior to our arrival to KGC and throughout our stay was nothing short of extraordinary. From comprehensive pre-arrival planning meetings to our final day at the club, every detail of our tournament preparation was meticulously catered for. No training request was too demanding, no logistical need too small – the committee understood the importance of our UK campaign and went above and beyond to ensure we had every opportunity to prepare at the highest level.
The welcoming atmosphere and genuine warmth shown by every member, pro-shop staff, and clubhouse team was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were embraced as family rather than visitors. The hospitality was so authentic and generous that we felt like longstanding members of the Kilmacolm Golf Club community rather than international guests staying briefly.
For serious golfers seeking an exceptional preparation environment, KGC delivers everything needed to elevate your game. The comprehensive practice facilities – including a full-length driving range, dedicated chipping and putting greens, and two state-of-the-art indoor simulators – provided the perfect training ground for fine-tuning every aspect of our tournament preparation. The thoughtfully designed course layout offered us the ideal testing ground that challenged our abilities while remaining thoroughly enjoyable. Set against the backdrop of stunning Scottish countryside with spectacular panoramic views, playing and practicing felt like a privilege.
The combination of excellent facilities, unwavering committee support, and the club’s legendary Scottish hospitality made our stay at Kilmacolm Golf Club an ideal way to start the tour.”

Coby Carruthers added, “Thankyou heaps for looking after us and getting us onto some amazing courses! The practice range at KGC was awesome and the course is beautiful, quirky and has some amazing views, please thank Andy for letting us use the sims and the bar staff for some amazing food, can’t wait to return next year”
Jye Halls, the Australian Men’s Amateur Champion, expressed his gratitude: “Kilmacolm was fantastic — such a welcoming place. The range was perfect, and the food and bar staff were great. Thanks again for everything!”
Alexander Farmer clinched the Scottish Golf Men’s Amateur Championship 2024 in a thrilling finale, showcasing his exceptional skill and determination. Held at the prestigious St Andrews Links Trust. Alexander’s victory marks a significant milestone in his golfing career. Throughout the tournament, he displayed remarkable consistency and composure, navigating the challenging courses with precision. His triumph not only underscores his talent but also solidifies his reputation as one of Scotland’s promising golf talents. This victory will undoubtedly inspire future generations of Scottish golfers and add to the rich history of the championship joining greats such as Colin Montgomerie and Bob McIntyre.
Well done Alexander from all at Kilmacolm Golf Club
